Caramel

I will plainly admit right here, right now that I have a weakness for caramel. I love the stuff and not just the expensive good stuff but the mass produced caramels as well. It is the one candy that I am always saying "OoOooOoo! Yummy!" every single time I see it and I will buy it on impluse like a crack addict.

But the one that I think I am the most crazily addicted to is the Werther's Original Chewy Caramels.
I am totally hooked on the stuff. The creamy, buttery, chewy, milky, sugary caramel flavor with a hint of salt and molasses is a knock combination for the taste buds. It is an experience that I think everyone should have at least once in there lives. For me though, I use them as my own personal moral booster for my everyday life. No matter what kind of day I am having, it always looks a little brighter (a little less shitty) after I have a caramel. Plus I can get a pack of them for just a single buck most of the time, just ONE dollar. So what if they are basically a lump of pure sugar and have hundreds of calories a piece, it doesn't matter as long as it make you feel better in my very skewed opinion. What more can one ask for from a simple treat? Nothing... except maybe for caramel rain from the skies above... or lead me to a pot of gold...

ANYWAY! You! Go out, get a pack, sit back and take a break with one of the simplest yet greatest candies ever made!

The Deus Ex effect

When it comes to PC video games, the original Deus Ex comes in a close second, right behind to The Fallout series of games which has completely filled the first place slot on my list. The original Half-Life is still fighting for the second place spot too, but enough about that (saving that argument for another time). The reasoning behind it's high rank on my list is because of the experience that it gave the player in which no game before had ever done.

It was the first game that I ever played where you, the player, could complete objectives in numerous ways, including stealth, sniping, heavy frontal assault, dialogue, or engineering and computer hacking. This level of freedom was backed up by the game having levels, characters, and puzzles be designed with significant redundancy, so that during a single play-through of the game the player will not miss large sections of dialogue, areas, and other awesome content. At times, even when you are encouraged against using deadly force -stun vs stab-, aspects of the story can change depending on how bloody violent or sneakily non-violent you choose to be. "The sky's the limit" so-to-speak and because of the affect this game had on me, my view of what a game should be was changed.

Depth of story, vibrant environments and versatility of gameplay are all but gone from the mainstream video game scene, replaced by linear paths, confined gameplay modes and stupid gimmicks. It saddens me that I might never get to see a game as good as Deus Ex ever again. Every damned molecule in my body wishes that game developers would look back to the past for inspiration and start making fantastic video game experiences again, like they used to. Here's to hoping for better things, but until then I will see what the present has to offer.

... Deus Ex: Human Revolution review coming soon :)

Oh and here's a shitty but funny DE video:

Where do we start...

Where the hell should I start with this blog?!?... To be perfectly honest, introductions seem unnecessary and boring, but I guess I will lay down a little bit of info about myself.

You can address me by one of my 'gamertag' names, Randomer. I'll spare you the story on that particular name for now, for it is a stupid story. What to say... ... Ever since my puny middle school years I have been interested in computers and pretty much every other form technology. A passion for understanding and utilizing technology grew from the first time I saw the guts and watched the repair of a computer at my school. Since then I have tried desperately to get my hands on and learn anything I could about the Information Technology field. Today I stand as a freelance guru of computer technology, using my skills to not only fix computers but everyday life problems too. As smart as I believe I am there is still a lot out there for me learn and I continue to expand my knowledge anyway I can.

That all said, I am your basic run-of-the-mill type nerd with a love for technology, good video games, Anime, food, sci-fi and a shit ton of other stereotyped nerd likes as well as some unexpected ones. I'm using this blog to expand on my ideas, frustrations, and a bunch of things I think are interesting (Y'know, like 99% of blogs out there). So get ready...

BAM! Thats all for now folks!
